Solid Oak Veneer and Fenix, Floating Modern Kitchen | Ladbroke Grove, London
High-quality oak kitchen project with Sinclair Studios with white oiled oak units and appliances cleverly integrated and hidden from view.
We partnered with Sinclair Studios on a kitchen project featuring a 15m joinery wall along with a floating kitchen and island. The design process was highly collaborative, involving numerous workshops where we sketched, discussed materials, and explored various design solutions. Initially, the concept involved painted panels, but we proposed using Fenix for its sleek finish. Through detailed collaboration, we fine-tuned the junctions and details of the design.
Utilizing Fenix for the panels led us to incorporate 2mm solid core Fenix for the kitchen worktops, positioned over the island. This choice created an elegant visual effect, making it appear as though the kitchen worktop was merely 2mm thick, despite its true thickness being 25mm with laminates. This design detail contributes to a refined aesthetic, providing the impression of a delicate frame supporting a robust work surface.
The drawers are meticulously constructed with finger-jointed, hand-made drawer boxes featuring exposed joints, highlighting craftsmanship. The kitchen incorporates a floating design, securely bracketed to the wall, ensuring stability and a contemporary aesthetic. For the kitchen island, we drew inspiration from a modern oak shelving system designed for Ester’s cafe, seamlessly adapting this concept into the overall kitchen layout.
Additionally, a sprinkler system was strategically integrated to address fireproofing requirements, eliminating the need for traditional doors in certain areas, which served as a critical design element. We engaged our recommended contractor for this project, someone with whom we have established a strong working relationship in the past. This collaboration facilitated smoother teamwork on-site.
Ultimately, the project was completed to an impeccable standard, showcasing exceptional quality and precision, free from awkward details or unfinished aspects. The client was highly satisfied with the final result.
