Bright Laminate Kitchen | Hackney, London

A tiny Hackney kitchen transformed into a bright cafe-style kitchen with bright yellow Fenix laminate and red handles

Oliver Hooson is obsessed with London cafe culture and his kitchen design reflects this, transforming a tiny unusable kitchen into a vibrant and functional area. With careful planning, every last millimetre was utilised, allowing for a bold design that showcases both colour and style, perfectly mirroring Oliver’s personality.

Key components were thoughtfully incorporated to meet Oliver's needs, demonstrating EastJR’s ability to maximise even the most limited spaces. Innovative storage solutions were developed, including integrated wine storage and clever spot for his Henry hoover.

When Oliver visited our studio for the first time, we showcased all our samples to explore a wide range of options. Fenix laminate stood out as a clear favourite, leading us to select three contrasting colours for the worktop, doors and edging. The sleek yet ultra-matt surfaces were ideal, setting the stage for the off-the-shelf handles we sourced online. These handles were powder-coated in a bright red colour that aligned well with Oliver's colour palette, adding a vibrant accent to the design.

The dedicated wine, brunch, and coffee bench proved to be a functional addition. After completing some extra work, we took the opportunity to test it out, enjoying a selection of Oliver's natural biodynamic wine alongside the customary Perillo Olives.
